The Power Trolley is a radio-controlled, battery-powered, transfer cart/transfer trolley that runs on rails, typically in factories, as part of the manufacturing process to transfer raw materials between different areas such as: storage, production and dispatch.
In some industrial applications, there are operational restrictions which prevent the use of a pedestrian operated tug, such as the Power Pusher and that’s where the Power Trolley comes in.
The Power Trolley can be operated at a safe distance up to 200m from the machine using a handheld controller, with the additional backup of a hard-wired controller if required.
By working with a Nu-Star Design Engineer, the core design can be scaled up or down to suit individual customer load moving applications. Additional safety features like Monitored Safety Edges to bespoke durable, corrosion-free, load beds to meet different capacity requirements can also be incorporated.
*Indicated load capacity is ultimately subject to the rolling resistance of the load
This product is currently used in some of these industries:
The Power Trolley is a radio-controlled, battery-powered transfer cart that runs on rails to move heavy loads between different areas of a manufacturing facility, such as storage, production, and despatch. Unlike a pedestrian-operated tug, the Power Trolley itself carries the load along a fixed route, controlled remotely by an operator. It’s particularly suited to repetitive in-plant transfers where the same loads need to move between fixed points throughout the working day, including raw material handovers, line-to-line movements, and shunting between process stages.
A Power Pusher is a pedestrian-operated tug that pushes or pulls existing wheeled loads, with the operator walking alongside the machine. The Power Trolley, by contrast, is the load-carrying vehicle itself, running on rails and operated remotely. This makes it the right solution when site conditions prevent an operator from accompanying the load, for example in restricted-access areas, environments with hazardous or hot processes, or where a fixed route between production stages makes a rail-mounted transfer trolley more efficient than a free-roaming tug.
The Power Trolley is operated using a handheld radio controller at a safe distance of up to 200 metres from the machine, keeping the operator clear of the load and any associated hazards during transfer. A hard-wired controller can also be specified as a backup, providing a reliable secondary means of operation if required. Combined with the rail-based travel path and configurable safety features, this lets the trolley move heavy loads efficiently through the facility while keeping personnel well away from the load itself.
Yes. The Power Trolley is designed to be built around your specific application, and our in-house design engineers will scale the core design up or down to match your load weight, footprint, and operating environment. Bespoke, corrosion-resistant load beds can be specified to meet different capacity and durability requirements, and additional safety features such as Monitored Safety Edges can be integrated to protect personnel and equipment during operation. If you have an unusual load profile, rail gauge, or site constraint, this can be reviewed at the design stage so the finished machine fits your process precisely.
