8,000 kg
0.37 – 3.10 km/h
With a capacity of up to 8,000 kg, the machine is commonly used to move rail bogies, heavy machinery, production stillages, large assemblies and specialist transport trolleys. The compact skid-steer design allows the tug to turn on the spot, making it ideal for manoeuvring loads in confined workshops, depots and factory production lines.
Unlike pedestrian-operated tugs, the radio-controlled system allows the operator to stand away from the machine and load, providing better visibility and improved safety. This is particularly useful when moving large loads that would normally obstruct the operator’s line of sight.
The industrial radio control unit has an operating range of up to 500 metres and uses two joysticks to control the independent drive motors. This enables precise movement and full 360° manoeuvrability, allowing the tug to turn within its own footprint when required.
Because the machine can push or pull with equal power in either direction, attachments can be mounted at either end of the chassis depending on the application. This flexibility allows the 4WD tug to be configured for a wide range of tasks across industries such as rail maintenance, manufacturing, engineering and timber processing.
Speed is adjustable from 0 to 3.7 km/h on the standard model, with higher speeds available using alternative gearing and larger diameter wheels.
For safety, the machine is fitted as standard with a permanent LED strobe and motion bleeper, helping warn nearby personnel when the tug is moving.
*Indicated load capacity is ultimately subject to the rolling resistance of the load

A radio-controlled electric tug is used to move heavy wheeled or rail-mounted loads without the operator needing to walk alongside the machine.
The 4WD Electric Tug is commonly used in rail depots, factories and engineering environments to move loads such as rail bogies, heavy machinery, production stillages, industrial trolleys and large assemblies. Because the operator can stand away from the machine, visibility and control are improved when manoeuvring large loads.
The 4WD Electric Tug can push or pull loads of up to 8,000 kg, depending on the application.
Actual performance depends on factors such as rolling resistance, wheel type, floor surface and gradients. For example, a load on steel rails will move far more easily than the same weight on swivel castors on concrete.
A radio-controlled tug allows the operator to stand away from the load while controlling the machine, improving visibility and safety.
This is particularly useful when moving large loads that would normally obstruct the operator’s view if they were standing directly behind the tug. Remote control also makes it easier to guide loads through tight spaces or around obstacles.
The 4WD Electric Tug is designed for moving heavy industrial loads, including:
Rail bogies and rail vehicles
Machinery and equipment on skates
Heavy production stillages
Industrial carts and trolleys
Large fabricated components
Timber or manufacturing loads on wheeled frames
Different attachments allow the tug to be configured for specific applications.
Yes. The tug uses a skid-steer four-wheel drive system with independent drive motors, allowing it to turn within its own footprint.
This enables full 360° manoeuvrability, making it ideal for use in confined workshops, maintenance depots and production environments where space is limited.
The machine includes several safety features as standard, including:
Radio control operation so the operator can stand clear of the load
LED safety strobe to increase visibility
Motion bleeper to warn nearby personnel
Regenerative braking system
Battery gauge and isolator controls
These features help reduce the risks associated with moving heavy loads in busy industrial environments.
Yes. With the correct attachment, the 4WD Electric Tug is commonly used for moving rail bogies, wheelsets and railcars in maintenance depots and workshops. Loads on steel rails typically roll with lower resistance than loads on castors, which can improve real-world performance.
It can, but suitability depends on the weight of the load, gradient, surface condition and tyre grip. The 4WD layout is designed for traction, and it’s often chosen where a conventional 2WD tug might struggle. For any incline work, it’s best to confirm the application so the right gearing, tyres and safety setup can be specified.
The key difference is operator position and visibility. With radio control, the operator can stand away from the tug and load, which can improve line-of-sight and safety when manoeuvring large loads. It’s also useful in tighter spaces where walking directly behind the machine would be awkward or unsafe.
The 4WD Electric Tug is designed for bolt-on attachments at either end of the chassis, depending on whether you are pushing or pulling. Common configurations include attachments for rail applications (for example grabbing or locating onto wheelsets/bogies), plus bespoke fixtures for production environments where a standard push point doesn’t exist.
